Latent fingerprints are hidden fingerprints (not visible). Latent prints are caused by oils and dirts from your body transferred to a surface. The print becomes visible after using chemicals to cover the oil's and reveal the print.

Patent fingerprints are visible prints left on smooth surfaces with ink, blood, or liquids left of objects.

Plastic prints are prints left behind in wax, putty, and clay.
